Overview
Founded in 1993 by Jean Tran Thanh Van, the association Rencontres du Vietnam, a non-profit organization and an official partner of UNESCO, has as its objective the promotion of international exchanges between Vietnam and the international community, particularly in the areas of science and education. It also aims at the encouragement and integration of Vietnamese scientists into the international scientific community and at supporting the role of education and science by encouraging scientific awareness and stimulating passion for science in the younger generation. The Rencontres du Vietnam lies within the scope of two series of scientific meetings created by Jean Tran Thanh Van : the Rencontres de Moriond in 1966 and the Rencontres de Blois in 1989.
The creation of the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science Education (ICISE) in the city of Quy Nhon (Central Vietnam) has the ambitious objective to focus on developing Science and Education by fostering exchanges between Asia-Pacific scientists and colleagues from other parts of the world.
Recent advances in studies of strongly correlated electrons
June 1-5, 2026 at ICISE, Quy Nhon Vietnam
Introduction
The study of strongly correlated electron systems remains one of the most vibrant and challenging frontiers in modern condensed matter physics. This conference is dedicated to highlighting and discussing the latest theoretical and experimental breakthroughs in this field.
Our primary goal is to foster deep collaboration and exchange between leading experts, providing a platform to analyze new developments, debate open questions, and explore emerging directions in strongly correlated quantum matters. By converging diverse perspectives—from numerical simulations to topological theory and experimental realization—we aim to advance our collective understanding of complex electronic behaviors.
The scientific program will cover a broad spectrum of cutting-edge topics, reflecting the dynamic nature of the field. Key areas of focus include:
- 2D bosonization and diamagnetism via bosonization
- Novel superconductivity at strong coupling
- Novel physics in strongly coupled electron–phonon systems
- Anomalous behavior of the structure factor of interacting fermions and the relation to topology
- Advances in numerical methods, such as Monte Carlo techniques
- Fractional quantum Hall physics, fractional Chern insulators, the fractional quantum anomalous Hall effect, and anyon superconductivity
- Unconventional ordered states in multi-valley systems and their competition with superconductivity
- Generalized symmetries
The conference will bring together leading experts, early-career researchers, and graduate students from international institutions, with a special focus on initiating new international collaborations. In addition to the scientific sessions, the ICISE setting offers an ideal environment for informal exchanges and community building.
The conference is jointly organized by the Fine Theoretical Physics Institute (FTPI), Minnesota, and the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), Quy Nhơn, Vietnam.
Researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students working in the field of strongly correlated electrons and closely related areas are warmly invited to participate.
