Overview
Founded in 1993 by Jean Trần Thanh Vân, Rencontres du Vietnam is a non-profit organization and an official partner of UNESCO. With a strong commitment to the future of Vietnam, its mission centers on promoting international exchange in science and education—placing particular emphasis on nurturing the next generation of Vietnamese through quality education and global collaboration.
The association aims to support the integration of Vietnamese scientists into the international scientific community while encouraging scientific awareness and a passion for discovery among the youth. By fostering a culture of curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation, Rencontres du Vietnam plays a vital role in strengthening the foundation for Vietnam’s scientific and educational advancement.
Welcoming scientists from around the world, Rencontres du Vietnam serves as a bridge connecting Vietnam with the global scientific landscape. This vision is deeply rooted in a broader tradition of international scientific gatherings initiated by Jean Trần Thanh Vân, beginning with the Rencontres de Moriond in 1966 and the Rencontres de Blois in 1989.

Frontiers in Genome Engineering
The XXIInd Rencontres du Vietnam Frontiers in Genome Engineering
Conference will be held from November 3–7, 2026 at ICISE in the coastal city of
Quy Nhon.
Frontiers in Genome Engineering is the eighth meeting in a distinguished international
conference series that began in Seoul in 2017, followed by meetings in Beijing (2018), Kobe
(2019), Seoul (2022), Goa (2023), Singapore (2024), and Hainan, China (2025). Over the
years, the conference has grown into a leading platform for scientific exchange in genome
engineering, bringing together academic researchers, biotechnology innovators, industry
leaders, and policymakers from around the world.
Celebrating the revolutionary impact of CRISPR-Cas systems and the rapid evolution of genome
engineering technologies, the conference will explore advances ranging from fundamental
biological discovery to transformative applications in agriculture, medicine, biotechnology,
and sustainability. In addition to CRISPR-based systems, the meeting will highlight emerging
genome engineering tools and next-generation technologies that continue to reshape modern
biology.
Hosted at ICISE in Quy Nhon, one of Asia’s premier interdisciplinary scientific conference
venues, the 2026 meeting aims to foster global collaboration and regional dialogue across
academia, industry, and government. The program will feature keynote lectures, invited
talks, short presentations, panel discussions, and a dedicated one-day course covering
cutting-edge developments in genome editing, synthetic biology, functional genomics, crop
improvement, therapeutic applications, regulatory frameworks, and translational
biotechnology.
Set against the beautiful coastline of central Vietnam, the conference also reflects the
growing role of Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region in advancing biotechnology and genome
engineering research. The meeting will provide an open and collaborative environment for
established leaders, early-career researchers, and students to exchange ideas, establish
partnerships, and shape the future of genome engineering together.
