Overview of Quy Nhon
- Quy Nhon is the capital City of Binh Dinh province and was officially founded in the late 18th century, although its origins stretch back much further to the 11th-century Champa culture, the Tayson Dynasty and the 18th century seaport of Thi Nai. During the 1620s, the town was host to Portuguese Jesuits who called the place Pulo Cambi.
- The city is renowned as the birthplace of 18th century Vietnamese emperor Nguyen Hue and, more recently, had a large American military presence during the Vietnam War. The total area of Quy Nhon is approximately 284.28 km². The current population is approximately 290,000 people. The city is recognized as a first class city with a geo-economic priority and an urbanized infrastructure. The government describes it as one of the three commercial and tourism centers of the central southern coastal region.
- Quy Nhon has a varied topography, being extremely diversified with mountains and forests, hills, fields, salt marshes, plains, lagoons, lakes, rivers, shorelines, peninsulas and islands. Its coastline is 42 km long with sandy beaches, abundant seafood resources and other natural products of economic value. With the famous seafood place in Vietnam and stunning views of surrounding mountains, plains, and sea the UK travel magazine of Rough Guides has recently ranked Quy Nhon as the third among the top 9 coastal tourist places in Southeast Asia.
- Coming to Quy Nhon, you can enjoy seafood and fascinating landscapes such as Eo Gio, Ghenh Rang (Rang Rapids), Hoang Hau Beach (Queen Beach), Yen Island (Salangane Island), Phuong Mai Peninsula, Thi Nai Lagoon, etc. You also have the opportunity to taste many specialties like “banh it la gai” (sticky rice cake with coconut or green bean stuffing wrapped in pinnate leaf), special seafood dishes, “bun cha ca sua” (rice vermicelli soup with fish paste and jellyfish), Huynh De (king) crab, fish, snail, and more. A few good restaurants for you to enjoy seafood are Cay Dua, Hai Sy on Nguyen Hue Street, Chin Man, Vuon Pho on Xuan Dieu Street) are among ideal places.
- The conference will organize a half day tour to Thi Nai lagoon and Nhon Ly Island. The registration fee covers this tour, enjoy!
