November 29 - December 11, 2020, ICISE, Quy Nhon, Vietnam
Founded in 1993 by Jean Tran Thanh Van, the association Rencontres du Vietnam, a non-profit organization and an official partner of UNESCO, has as its objective the promotion of international exchanges between Vietnam and the international community, particularly in the areas of science and education. It also aims at the encouragement and integration of Vietnamese scientists into the international scientific community and at supporting the role of education and science by encouraging scientific awareness and stimulating passion for science in the younger generation. The Rencontres du Vietnam lies within the scope of two series of scientific meetings created by Jean Tran Thanh Van : the Rencontres de Moriond in 1966 and the Rencontres de Blois in 1989.
The creation of the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science Education (ICISE) in the city of Quy Nhon (Central Vietnam) has the ambitious objective to focus on developing Science and Education by fostering exchanges between Asia-Pacific scientists and colleagues from other parts of the world.
XVIth Rencontres du Vietnam
“26th Vietnam School of Physics: Particles and Dark Matter”
November 29 - December 11, 2020, Quy Nhon, Vietnam
Practical information and compact lecture schedule: here.
This school belongs to a series of schools originating from a school created in 1994 by Nguyen Van Hieu and Tran Thanh Van and funded by Rencontres du Vietnam. It became an international school in 1995 with participation of Vietnamese and foreign students. The school is also funded by the Asia-Pacific Centre for Theoretical Physics (APCTP), Pohang, Korea, as an external activity.
The 26th VSOP will be devoted to particle physics and dark matter, both theory and experiment. In addition to fundamental knowledge of Quantum Field Theory and the Standard Model (SM), the lectures will cover theories beyond the SM, dark matter, experimental methods for collider searches at the LHC, Monte Carlo methods, and machine learning.
Location: ICISE center, located by the sea and surrounded by mountains, about 6km from the city of Quy Nhon. The lecture hall is mostly on the second floor, equipped with a video projector, a blackboard, audio system, wireless connection. ICISE has a nice, quiet campus with palm trees and a beautiful beach.
Applicants: Master/PhD students and young researchers are welcome to apply for participation in the VSOP-26. Senior bachelor students (i.e. third or fourth year students), who have taken a quantum-field-theory or particle-physics course, are also encouraged to apply.
Financial Support: Some financial support will be possible for participants from developing countries, see the application form. Priority will be given to students and junior researchers from the Asia-Pacific region.
