Pre-arrival Information

Entrance Visa:

To enter Vietnam, you may need a visa. Citizens of ASEAN countries, R. Korea and Japan may not need an entrance visa for short visit (please, inquire at your local "Vietnamese consulate").

In case you need an entrance visa for a short visits, you can use the "online service" to obtain an "on-arrival visa" which can be received upon your arrival at an international airport of Vietnam.

If you need a help from the local organizers in obtaining a visa, you can complete the "VISA FORM" and return it to the school secretariat at least 1 month  before your departure date.

How to get to the school site:

People coming from abroad can go to Quy Nhon via international airports in Ha Noi, Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City from which they can take a flight to Quy Nhon (Phu Cat airport) or take a train/bus to Quy Nhon which is about 1000km away from Ha Noi and about 600km away from Ho Chi Minh City. A round-trip train seating ticket costs from about 1,000,000 VND (about 50 USD) for a trip from Ha Noi, 650,000 VND (about 32 USD) for a trip from Ho Chi Minh City.

Quy Nhon can be also accessed by train/bus/taxi from other airports: Tuy Hoa (100km in the south, for domestic flight only), Tam Ky (230km on the north, for domestic flight only) and Cam Ranh (270 in the south, for domestic flights and a few international flights).

To travel between Phu Cat airport (about 40km away from Quy Nhon)and Quy Nhon City (where the school will be located) one can take a taxi or an airport mini-bus (cheaper).

  • A taxi trip to/from the city costs about 400,000 - 500,000 VND (20 -24 USD)
  • A trip with an airport's mini-bus to/from the city (bus stop) costs about 50,000 VND per person. A taxi trip from the bus stop to the hotel costs about 30,000-40,000 VND.

The railway station of Quy Nhon (Dieu Tri station) is about 10km away from the school site: a taxi trip to the school site would cost about 165,000-200,000 VND.

Vietnam Currency:

Vietnam currency is "Đồng" (VND). At present, bank notes and coins in circulation are:

  • Bank notes: 1,000 VND, 2,000 VND, 5,000 VND. 10,000 VND, 20,000VND, 50,000 VND, 100,000 VND, 200,000 VND, and 500,000 VND.
  • Coins: 200 VND, 500 VND, 1,000 VND, 2000 VND, 5,000 VND.

Traveller's cheques can be exchanged for VND only at authorized exchange banks. Credit cards (American Express, Visa, Master Card) can be used in banks, travel agencies, hotels, major restaurants and ATM of large banks. US currency is exchanged for Vietnam Dong and treasury notes on banks, exchange bureaus, hotels, and jewellery shops with the daily exchange rate.
