Since 1993 the Rencontres du Vietnam, which is an official partner of UNESCO, has organised international scientific conferences and schools to foster exchanges between Vietnamese or Asia-Pacific scientists and colleagues from other parts of the world.

The construction of the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science Education (ICISE) in the city of Quy Nhon (Central Vietnam) had the ambitious objective to focus on developing Science and Education, helping young Asian students and scientists to meet with the International Science community, bringing the opportunity to accelerate their knowledge from attending lectures and sharing ideas with overseas high-level counterparts.

Ocean Radar Conference in Asia-Pacific (ORCA-2026) and International Summer School on Oceanographic Radars in Marine Science (ISSOR-2026)

Welcome to Rencontres du Vietnam and to the Ocean Radar Conference in Asia-Pacific (ORCA-2026). We are delighted to welcome you to ORCA-2026, an international conference bringing together leading scientists and young researchers working in the field of Radiowave oceanography and its applications in marine sciences.

Since 2012, six ORCA conferences have been organized, providing an important forum for sharing advances and strengthening collaboration in radiowave oceanography and its applications to marine science, navigation, oil spill prediction, search and rescue, harmful algal bloom forecasting, tsunami detection and warning, marine energy, etc.

• The first Ocean Radar Conference for Asia-Pacific (1st ORCA) was held on May 17-18, 2012, in Korea.
• The second Ocean Radar Conference for Asia-Pacific (2nd ORCA) was hosted by Taiwan Ocean Research Institute (TORI) on April 2-4, 2014, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
• The third ORCA was held on April 14-16, 2016, in Wuhan, China, hosted by Wuhan University.
• The fourth ORCA was hosted by the University of the Ryukyus in Okinawa, Japan, in June 2018.
• The fifth Ocean Radar Conference for Asia-Pacific (ORCA-2022) was held on June 14-16, 2022, in Zhuhai, China, organized by Sun Yat-sen University.

The sixth ORCA conference, ORCA-2026, is hosted at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science Education (ICISE), a unique venue for interdisciplinary exchange in the scenic coastal city of Quy Nhon, Vietnam, with support from the Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VinIF) and IRD. ORCA-2026 is organized under Rencontres du Vietnam to continue a tradition of fostering and strengthening collaborations between Asia-Pacific scientists and colleagues from around the world.
