Parimetry is considered the third eye of humankind into the Universe, besides photometry and spectroscopy. We are living in the golden era of dust polarimetry in which dust polarization is observed by the most powerful observatories (ALMA, NOEMA, IRAM/Nika2-Pol, SOFIA/HAWC+, JCMT/Pol2, APEX/A-mKID, TolTec, BLASTPOL), spanning all scales of the Universe, from the galactic scales to the ISM, molecular clouds, to star-forming and planet-forming regions to debris disks, and envelopes of dying stars. Dust polarization is also observed in the environment of cosmic transients. The fundamental theory underlying dust polarization has been developed to the level of predictive and quantitative. Numerical modeling and computational simulations can create synthetic polarization data that directly compare with real observational data. The synergy of theory, computation, and observations promises dust polarimetry to become an accurate diagnostic of astrophysics, which can help resolve the long-standing questions and potentially open new frontiers of astrophysics.
