The association Rencontres du Vietnam yesterday held the first international conference on magnetic fields, named ‘Magnetic Fields in the Universe 7’, in the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science Education (ICISE), located in Quy Nhon City of Binh Dinh Province.

HÀ NỘI — More than 500 outstanding students from 58 high schools and six SOS children's villages in the north received Vallet scholarships at a ceremony in Hà Nội on Monday. Prof. Odon Vallet, Vallet Scholarship sponsor; Prof. Trần Thanh Vân, Chairman of the Science and Education Association “Meeting Vietnam in France” and his wife, Prof. Lê Kim Ngọc attended the ceremony and awarded scholarships to the outstanding students.

BÌNH ĐỊNH — The International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) held a new physics class in Quy Nhơn City on Thursday. The European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) runs the class for aspiring young physicists every two years, alternating between countries in Europe, Asia and the Pacific. This is the fourth time the class has been held and the first time it has happened in Việt Nam.

Attracting over 200 participants who are scientists, diplomats, executives, educators and representatives of international organizations—150 of whom were from 40 countries – the conference “Science for Development” on May 9-10 was part of the 25th anniversary celebration of Rencontres du Vietnam held at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE).

HÀ NỘI – President Trần Đại Quang met with Vietnamese and foreign scientists in Hà Nội yesterday after they attended the seminar themed “Science for development” in the central province of Bình Định’s Quy Nhơn City on Wednesday and Thursday.

Prof. Trần Thanh Vân, founder of Recontres du Vietnam – a development initiative that has brought the world’s renowned scientists to Việt Nam for discussions since 1993 – talks with Việt Nam News reporter Hoàng Anh about this year’s event which marks 25 years since the first meeting. Among the many distinguished scientists in attendance at this year’s Recontres du Vietnam conference at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education are two Nobel laureates – Prof. Gerard’t Hooft, Nobel prize winner in Physics in 1999 and Prof. Finn Kydland, Nobel prize winner in Economics in 2004. Why did you decide to invite them to Việt Nam?

QUY NHON — A research exhibition titled “Plastic Matters: Wild Lives” is on display at the International Centre of Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) in the central city of Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh Province. The exhibition showcases the connection between plastic and human, especially in the context of everyday life in Vietnam. It explores how plastic, since the beginning of the Doi Moi Era, has found its way to every conner of Vietnamese society and how the rampant use of plastic has become an environmental issue, especially to the country’s marine environment.

QUY NHON — An international conference with the theme “Science for Development” is taking place in Quy Nhon City, central province of Binh Dinh on May 9-10. The event, which is hosted by the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), will discuss the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as well as its future perspectives seen from the world of science, technology and innovation.
