A German Nobel laureate has arrived in Vietnam to chair a nanophysics conference in a central city.

Vietnamese-French Professor Jean Tran Thanh Van is the third physician in Asia to be awarded the Tate Medal for his contribution to physics. He has raised US$2 million to build an international centre for science and education in Viet Nam. He talks with Ha Nguyen about the ICISE. Five Nobel laureates will come to Vietnam to attend a science event that includes a series of conferences on physics and astrophysics in August.

HA NOI (VNS)– Over 200 scientists from 30 nations, including seven Nobel Prize winners, will attend the 9th "Meeting Viet Nam" – a series of scientific workshops and physics lectures to be held from July 28 to August 17 in the central province of Binh Dinh. The event is being organised by the ministries of Science and Technology, Education and Training and Foreign Affairs along with the Association Rencontres (meeting) du Vietnam.

Ha Noi--– An international physical science meeting, the sixth of its kind in Viet Nam, opened in Quy Nhon city, the central coastal province of Binh Dinh on July 16. The event, co-organised by the organisation Meeting Vietnam and the Binh Dinh provincial People's Committee, attracted physicists, who are Nobel laureates and 120 leading professors and doctors from 23 countries and territories worldwide.
